Heaney's memories and thoughts from childhood are conveyed in these poems. Heaney uses his childhood memories to form the basis of the poems that I am studying. He also refers to the men before him and how they have all dug. In 'Digging' we see how Heaney is using poetic digging to dig through the past, and his memories of seeing his father out of the window, digging. "My father, digging. I look down." Here we see how as Heaney is sitting down to write by his window he is reminded of how he would look out the window and see his father digging the potatoes which had to be collected by the children. He describes the children collecting the potatoes. "Loving their cool hardness in our hands." Heaney is remembering the feeling of the potatoes from when he picked them up for his father. By using the image of digging he can explain how, by looking through his past, he is able to unearth his roots and to discover who he really is. Heaney uses words which reproduce the sounds. This is because he is reliving memories. "... ...ng on his rural background and how he was brought up in the Irish countryside and on a farm. 'Digging' and 'Follower' do show how his background was rural but they are not using that as there main focus point. 'Death of a Naturalist' is about the end of his love for nature and the end of him being a naturalist. Heaney uses lots of nature-related words such as: "Flax-dam." "Sods." The use of these words show how he was brought up in a rural background. This poem is written in quiet a childish way. We can tell this from the language he uses, as the words are descriptive but childish. "Bubbles gargled delicately." The word gargled is a childish word but it is very effective in this poem and really makes the reader hear the sound and see the bubbles 'gargling'. The language in lines 16-19 represent the childish way the teacher spoke to the class.

The European Commission has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of ceramic tiles from China. The move comes following an investigation initiated after a complaint lodged by the European Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Federation (CET) on behalf of 69 tile producers in the EU, the Commission said. The duties range between 26.2% and 73% depending on the company and last for six months. They could be prolonged for five years and are intended to punish tile manufacturers from China who sell tiles below cost-price in the EU. Alfonso Panzani, the president of the CET, said that the duties were not intended to exclude Chinese products from the EU market but â€Å"to bring Chinese prices to a fair level, making it possible for ceramic tile production to continue in Europe, and creating the conditions for healthy competition to develop†. He added: â€Å"There is no reason why we should be less competitive in Europe than when we export outside of the EU.† The provisional duties apply to glazed and unglazed ceramic flags and paving, hearth or wall tiles and unglazed ceramic mosaic cubes. The conflicting economic values of free trade and protectionism are disputed in this situation as to which forces are allowed to control a nation’s economy – the government and domestic producers or the global market and consumer welfare (Free trade – â€Å"the absence of artificial barriers to trade among individuals and firms in different nations.†1; Consumer welfare – individual consumer satisfaction depending on prices and income.) Since domestic ceramic suppliers are threatened with economic ruin from such cheap products, the Commission turned to protectionism to force a more equal domestic competition and punish dumping companies through a tariff despite the consequences of higher prices (Protectionism – † policies that aim at restricting the flow of imports into a country.†2). The anatomy and economic effects of a tariff can be demonstrated in Figure 13 where the perfectly elastic world supply (Sworld) has increased in price (to P2) due to the tariff (Sworld + tariff) and, thus, have reduced the quantity of Chinese imports from the difference between Q1 and Q2 to that of Q3 and Q4. The benefits of a tariff not only include a reduction in imported ceramic, but also gains in producer surplus and tax revenues earned by the government (Producer surplus – the difference between the minimum price a producer is willing to accept for their good and the price they actually receive). Due to this tariff, the original quantity supplied domestically at Q2 has now increased to Q4 and domestic suppliers can now sell their ceramic at higher prices (P2), allotting for an increase in producer surplus (Area 1). Since the government collects the fees paid by the tariff, they now have more funding of which they would presumably return to the public. While tariffs may be advantageous for domestic producers and the government, they reap these benefits at a primary loss to the consumer from the higher prices needed to buy ceramics, and Chinese suppliers whose product is less demanded in the European Union. The major disadvantage of a tariff comes from the reduction in consumer surplus where it had originally occupied Areas 1,2,3,4, & 5 and was reduced to only Area 5 because consumers must now buy ceramics at a higher price (P2). Although Areas 1 through 4 represent the total consumer surplus reduction, since Areas 1 and 3 are beneficial to a society, so Areas 2 and 4 represent the net loss to society through higher prices. They lost them before they were actually expecting to lose them. Also, the world is changed for the person that lost the loved one. And it feels, and it feels like heaven's so far away. And it feels, Yeah it feels like the world has grown cold, now that you've gone away. This talks about how the world has changed because they miss the person gone. It seems to them that they are so far away. The final verse is very emotional. Leaving flowers on your grave, show that I still care. But black roses and Hail Mary's, can't bring back what's taken from me. I reach to the sky, and call out your name. And if I could trade, I would. This means although the person lost the close person in their life early, they are still going to show that they really do care. It is difficult for this person to move on. Upon their marriage, Tournehem made Charles his sole heir and gave Jeanne Antoinette an estate (one situated near the royal hunting grounds) as a wedding gift. The young couple were only four years apart in age, and they did fall in love with each other. Jeanne Antoinette promised she would never be unfaithful- except for the king. They had two children: a son who died as an infant, and a daughter, Alexandrine, who died at the age of nine in 1753. As a stylish young married woman, Jeanne Antoinette spent time at many of the elite salons in Paris. She encountered many of the figures of the Enlightenment and, in time, began hosting her own salons at her Étiolles estate, which also attracted many leading figures of the day. Educated and curious, she became a notable and witty conversationalist in the company of these people. By 1744, Jeanne Antoinettes name was being mentioned at court, attracting the attention of Louis XV. Her estate was adjacent to the king’s hunting grounds in the forest of Sà ©nart, so she was permitted to watch the royal party from a distance. To get the king’s attention, however, she rode directly in front of his group- not once, but twice. The king took notice and sent her a gift of venison from the hunt. The king’s official mistress died in December 1744, leaving the position vacant, and Jeanne Antoinette was invited to Versailles to the masked ball celebrating the engagement of the Dauphin. At the ball, Louis publicly unmasked and declared his affection for Jeanne Antoinette. Becoming the Royal Mistress In order to be properly introduced at court, Jeanne Antoinette had to have a title. The king solved this by purchasing the marquisate of Pompadour and giving it to her, making her the Marquise de Pompadour. She became the king’s official mistress, living at Versailles in apartments near his, and was formally presented to the court in September 1745. Notably, she got along quite well with the queen consort, Marie LeszczyÅ„ska, and worked to have a good relationship with the royal family overall. Madame de Pompadour was more than just a mistress. Louis XV respected her intelligence and understanding of social nuance, and as a result, she functioned as an unofficial prime minister and advisor. She supported the First Treaty of Versailles, which created an alliance between former rivals France and Austria, and rallied support behind government ministers whose fiscal reforms helped France become one of the world’s wealthiest countries. Madame de Pompadours influence was not limited to the political sphere. Building on her years in the Paris salons, she championed scientific, economic, and philosophical exploration as well. Her patronage protected the growing theory of physiocracy (an economic theory that emphasized the value of agriculture) and defended the Encyclopà ©die, a fundamental text of the Enlightenment that was opposed by religious figures. Her activities and her common birth earned her enemies and made her the subject of malicious gossip, but her relationship with Louis and the royal family remained mostly unaffected. The King’s Friend and Advisor By 1750, Pompadour ceased being Louis’s mistress, in large part due to her many health problems, including recurring bronchitis, three miscarriages, and chronic headaches. Nevertheless, she maintained her influential position, since their relationship had become much more than just a sexual one. The king did not take a new official â€Å"favorite,† but instead installed a succession of temporary mistresses at a chateau away from court. According to most reports, his heart and loyalty remained with Pompadour. During this era, Pompadour turned her patronage to the arts, which she used to announce her loyalty to the king (through commissions honoring him) and to cultivate her own image. In 1759, she purchased a porcelain factory, which created many jobs and ultimately become one of the most famous porcelain makers in all of Europe. Pompadour herself learned to engrave under the tutelage of Jacques Guay and Francois Boucher, and she was a significant influence in the development of Rococo style. It is likely that she contributed a fair amount to the work of the artists under her patronage. In fact, some historians consider her an actual collaborator on many works. Death and Legacy Madame de Pompadours poor health eventually caught up to her. In 1764, she suffered from tuberculosis, and Louis himself cared for her during her illness. She died on April 15, 1764 at the age of 42, and was buried at the Couvent des Capucines in Paris. Nevertheless there were a few vivacious individuals brave enough to find out what happened. They start their adventure by taking off in a space shuttle destined for outer space. As they reach orbit they witness the most amazing thing that any of them have ever seen. They watched the sun being sucked into nothing and something pushing it in. They change their course and follow the sun. As they get there, they realize that they are also being pulled in along with the sun and that their decision is at this point irrevocable. The funny thing was that the sun emanated no heat and that the moon started to glow much brighter than normal. It turns out that the moon was now supplying the earth with the heat that was needed to keep most happy. The sun, and both ships are now closed up in the thing and are increasing their velocity as they head for some minuscule object way in the distance. The team of explorers decide to catch the other ship but it is on the opposite side of the sun. It takes them a few days but they finally reach the other ship. The only thing that they cannot figure out is how to make contact with the other ship. They have exhausted every possibility and the only thing they have done is wasted time. They are floating in nothing, the scenery looks black and the only thing that they can see are the sun, the other ship, and the thing that they are flying towards. The ship surroundings are so amazing that they would whet your imagination beyond belief. Nevertheless, they are anxious to reach it in order to find out what it is. After doing nothing for two days they finally receive some contact with the other ship via Morse code. Using this to talk, they establish audio communication. Talking for a few hours they realize that both sides have no idea where they are headed. The only instructions that the other ship had received, were to push the sun into the hole and wait till they reach the end of the tunnel.

Others feel that they should not be required to meet the general education requirements of most colleges, but should instead be able to use the time taking classes relevant to their career field. Many people argue that because of these reasons college is not worthwhile. However, despite these facts, going to college has several benefits that make it very valuable. Firstly, college graduates make more money over the course of a lifetime and have more  job opportunities than people without degrees. College graduates on average make about one million dollars more in a lifetime than people with only a high school diploma. This is because college graduates have a better chance of getting and keeping a job, and these jobs pay more. The main reason for this is that there is less competition for jobs that require a degree so there is always a need for employees which means more job security. Secondly, in college people make lifetime connections and broaden their horizons. During college students meet a wide variety of people from different backgrounds than  themselves. The connections that students make with these individuals can prove very beneficial to them especially after they graduate. Many of these people that students meet in college could help them to advance their careers after they graduate. For example, their professors may recommend them for employment to others in their field. Also, they could be meeting future business partners, bosses, or employees. Thirdly, college helps young adults in becoming more responsible. When people go to college, for most, it is the first time most people are practically on their own. It is completely different from being in high school and being dependent on parents and teachers for everything from reminders and help with homework to finances. In college, students face circumstances that they would most likely encounter when completely on their own. College students have to pay bills, manage time efficiently, and be sure to meet deadlines. Quantum Theory Research Paper Quantum theory, the modern physical theory concerned with the emission and absorption of energy by matter and with the motion of material particles, is one of the most important theories devised in the 20th century. The theory is revolutionary as it replaces classical physics in the description of events at the microscopic level and now the theory provides the foundation for modern physics and chemistry. The person who formed the basis of the quantum theory was Max Planck. In the 19th century, scientists used laws of classical physics to explain the relationship between matter and energy. Toward the end of the 19th century, various experimental results were obtained that could not be explained by classical physics. One of the failures of classical physics was the inability to explain the observed frequency distribution of radiant energy emitted by a hot blackbody. Classical physics predicts that when a blackbody is heated, the frequencies of the light radiated will take on a continuous range of values from zero to infinity. However, from experimental observations, the frequency distribution reaches a maximum and then falls off to zero as the frequency increases. In 1900, Max Planck announced a theory to explain the observed frequency distribution of blackbody radiation. He suggested that a blackbody atom radiating light of frequency v is restricted to emitting an amount of energy giv en by hv (where h is the Planck’s constant). Planck called this definite amount of energy a quantum of energy. In classical physics, energy is a continuous variable. In quantum physics, energy is quantized, meaning that energy can take on only certain values. After Planck announced his theory, Albert Einstein applied the concept of energy quantization to the explanation of the experimental observations in the photoelectric effect. The photoelectric effect is a phenomenon when electrons are ejected from a substance exposed to electromagnetic radiation. According to classical physics, the average energy carried by an ejected electron should increase with the intensity of the incident radiation and not the frequency. However, from experimental observations, the energy of electrons ejected depends on the frequency of the incident radiation. Increasing the intensity of the incident radiation would only increase the amount and not the average energy of the electrons ejected. Also, for every substance irradiated, there is a threshold frequency below which no electrons are ejected irrespective of the light intensity. In 1905, Einstein explained the photoelectric effect by extending Planck’s concept of energy quantization to electromagnetic radiation. He proposed that besides having wavelike properties, electromagnetic radiation can be considered to consist of individual quanta, called photons, which interact with the electrons in the substance like discrete particles. For a given frequency v of the incident radiation, each photon carries a definite amount of energy given by hv, where h is the Planck’s constant. The threshold frequency is explained by the different nature of the materials. For each material there is a certain minimum energy, called the work function F, necessary to liberate an electron. Thus the threshold frequency, v0, corresponds to a minimum energy packet, hv0 (=F), required to liberate the electron. The next major contribution to the quantum theory was Niels Bohr’s model of the hydrogen atom. When hydrogen gas is heated, the hydrogen atoms emit electromagnetic radiation of only certain distinct frequencies. During 1885 to 1910, Rydberg and Balmer independently found an empirical formula, called the Rydberg equation, which correctly reproduces the observed hydrogen atom spectral frequencies. However, there was no explanation for this formula. Meanwhile, in 1911, Rutherford introduced his atomic model, a dense, positively charged nucleus surrounded by a revolving, negatively charged electron cloud. According to classical physics, Rutherford’s atom is unstable because the negative electrons are attracted by the positive nucleus. As a result, the electrons will spiral into the nucleus releasing huge amounts of energy and the electrons’ spectral frequencies will change continuously. In 1913, Bohr introduced his theory of the hydrogen atom by applying quantum theo ry to Rutherford’s electron cloud. In his theory, Bohr postulated that the electrons can only revolve about the nucleus in fixed orbits of different energy values, such that the angular momentum of the revolving electron are quantized. When an electron is in an allowed orbit, the atom does not radiate energy. Such an electron is said to be in the stationary state and it has a certain amount of energy. If the electron makes its transitions from one energy level to another, photons of energies corresponding to the difference between the initial and final energy levels are emitted or absorbed. This gives rise to the set of characteristic line spectra and the Rydberg equation can finally be explained. After Bohr announced his theory of the hydrogen atom, attempts were made to apply Bohr’s theory to atoms with more than one electron and to molecules. However, all attempts to derive the spectra of such systems using extensions of Bohr’s theory failed. A key idea towards resolving these difficulties was advanced by Louis de Broglie in 1923. He proposed that just as light shows both wave and particle like behaviours, matter also has a â€Å"dual† nature. He assumed that any particle, for example, an electron, an atom, etc, has a wavelength l which is given by h/p , where h is the Planck’s constant and p is the particles’ momentum. De Broglie obtained this equation by reasoning in analogy with photons. Although photons don’t have mass, but they do have energy. As Einstein famously proved, mass and energy are related in the equation E = mc2 where E is the energy, m is the mass and c is the speed of light. At speed c, a photon has a nonzero mass m. So by combining the 2 formulae, E = mc2 and E = hv , de Broglie obtained the equation l = h/p . In 1927, his hypothesis was experimentally confirmed by Davisson and Germer, who observed diffraction effects when an electron beam was reflected from a crystal of nickel. Since then, similar diffraction effects have been observed with neutrons, protons, helium atoms, and hydrogen molecules, indicating that the de Broglie hypothesis applies to all material particles, not just electrons. After the 1920s, more and more observations were found to prove the validity of the quantum theory. Soon, the quantum theory led to the modern theory of the interaction between matter and radiation known as quantum mechanics, which generalized and replaced classical mechanics and Maxwell’s electromagnetic theory. Telà ©fonos clave para informacià ³n migratoria USCIS: 1-800-375-5283EOIR: para detenidos o asuntos en Corte: 1-800-898-7180Denunciar fraudes migratorios: 1-866-347-2423Buscar abogados: base de datos de AILAReferencias de abogados: Hispanic Federation: 1-866-432-9832 Dà ³nde rastrear informacià ³n con el USCIS El Servicio de Inmigracià ³n y Ciudadanà ­a de los Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglà ©s) brinda varias posibilidades para obtener informacià ³n sobre asuntos que est tramitando o sobre cuestiones que son de su competencia. Entre ellos destacan: Telà ©fono gratuito para solicitar informacià ³n sobre un caso:  1-800-375-5283Servicio INFOPASS online para cerrar una cita para solicitar informacià ³n Adems, antes de acudir a una cita a una oficina de USCIS es posible utilizar su localizador de ubicaciones de oficinas o de sus Centros de Apoyo a Aplicaciones, donde se toman huellas digitales y otros datos biomà ©tricos a los solicitantes de beneficios migratorios. Adems, si ya se ha presentado la documentacià ³n para una peticià ³n o solicitud, es posible verificar online el estatus de un caso, aunque para ello es requisito indispensable conocer el nà ºmero de recibo del mismo. Asimismo, tambià ©n es posible informarse online de cunto se estn demorando en la tramitacià ³n casos similares. Por ejemplo, si se ha presentado una peticià ³n de familiar, es posible rastrear cunto tarda de media esa gestià ³n en todas las oficinas de USCIS. Informacià ³n sobre requisitos para presentar una solicitud ante USCIS En la pgina oficial de USCIS se puede encontrar informacià ³n sobre trmites como por ejemplo solicitar residencia permanente, naturalizacià ³n, permiso de trabajo, ajuste de estatus, perdones, tambià ©n conocidos como waivers o permisos, etc. Asimismo, esa pgina es el lugar en el que se puede acceder a todos los formularios oficiales para presentar solicitudes al USCIS y descargarlos gratuitamente.  Es conveniente utilizar la versià ³n ms reciente del documento que se necesite ya que USCIS los modifica y actualiza perià ³dicamente y no admite las versiones viejas. Centro Nacional de Visas (NVC, por sus siglas en inglà ©s) En el NVC se tramitan gestiones relacionadas con las peticiones de la tarjeta de residencia permanente cuando à ©stas siguen lo que se conoce como un procedimiento consular. En otras palabras, cuando la fase final se realiza fuera de Estados Unidos y es necesario acudir a una embajada o consulado para ser entrevistado y recibir la visa de inmigrante. Como regla general, el NVC es quien contacta. Pero si surge la necesidad de comunicarse con ellos, tambià ©n es posible. Si bien antes de hacerlo es recomendable verificar el boletà ­n de visas para fechas de procesamiento de green card con cupos mximos anuales, como son las peticiones de ciudadanos para hijos casados o mayores de 21 aà ±os de edad o para hermanos o las peticiones de residentes para cà ³nyuges e hijos solteros. Si se ha pedido una visa de inmigrante en casos en los que hay dichos cupos mximos anuales es imprescindible esperar a que la fecha de prioridad del caso sea ms antigua que la fecha de corte publicada en el boletà ­n de visas. Si no ha llegado la fecha de prioridad para la tramitacià ³n de la visa de inmigrante no se avanza absolutamente nada contactando con el NVC. Informacià ³n relacionada con aduanas Para los extranjeros autorizados a permanecer sà ³lo temporalmente en los Estados Unidos es importante para verificar el I-94, registro de entrada y salida, ya que ese documento muestra fecha mxima de estancia con visa de turista. Tambià ©n sirve esa pgina para obtener el rà ©cord de ingresos y salidas del paà ­s. En la actualidad, el I-94 est digitalizado y en la pgina de oficial de ICE para este registro es posible no solo verificar los datos sino tambià ©n imprimir el rà ©cord. Por otro lado, las personas que siempre tienen problemas cuando llegan a un punto migratorio de los Estados Unidos y son enviados a una segunda inspeccià ³n siempre o frecuentemente puede ser conveniente dirigirse al programa que se conoce en inglà ©s como Traveler Redress Inquire Program, para intentar encontrar una solucià ³n. Ciudadanà ­a de los Estados Unidos Para los ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos es importante conocer las opciones de cà ³mo y dà ³nde pueden solicitar el pasaporte. Para este trmite u otros puede necesitarse copia del certificado de nacimiento, cambio de nombre, matrimonio, pedir una nueva copia de la tarjeta del Nà ºmero del Seguro Social, etc. Para ello hay que dirigirse a la oficina de rà ©cords vitales del lugar donde se ha producido el hecho. Arrestos y detenciones Si se sospecha que un familiar o un amigo puede estar detenido, existe una base de datos para saber si est detenido por la Migra. Si no aparece en una centro de detencià ³n migratorio, hay varias formas de enterarse si se encuentra en una  en prisià ³n federal no migratoria o en una estatal. Informacià ³n sobre un caso en Corte migratoria Se puede marcar al EOIR, es decir, la Oficina de revisià ³n migratoria. Los telà ©fonos son  240-314-1500  o  1-800-898-7180, este à ºltimo es gratuito. Si se desea se puede elegir la opcià ³n de espaà ±ol. Por otro lado, para los migrantes es importante enterarse anà ³nimamente si existe una orden de deportacià ³n  y es posible hacerlo. Este punto conviene destacarlo ya que es totalmente posible que un juez haya declarado la deportacià ³n en ausencia y que el migrante no recibiera la notificacià ³n. En estos casos si por cualquier razà ³n se es detenido, la deportacià ³n proceder automticamente, sin pasar por corte. Dà ³nde reportar fraudes migratorios o felonà ­as Al igual que sucede en muchos otros paà ­ses, en Estados Unidos se puede marcar al 911 para reportar cualquier tipo de delitos o solicitar ayuda. Es el telà ©fono de situaciones de emergencia en todo el territorio nacional. En el caso de violencia domà ©stica se puede, adems, acudir directamente a la là ­nea gratuita que lucha contra esta lacra social. Para ello marcar al  1-800-799-7233. Otra opcià ³n es contactar con la Red Nacional contra el Asalto Sexual, Violacià ³n, Abuso e Incesto, que se conoce como RAINN por sus siglas en inglà ©s. En este caso marcar al  1-800-656-4673. Por otra parte, los migrantes son, lamentablemente, và ­ctimas de fraudes ya que siempre hay personas inescrupulosas que aseguran tener contactos o poder lograr resultados positivos en gestiones migratorias cuando no es verdad. Para estos casos es posible denunciar marcando al 1-877-382-4357. Adems, las actividades delictivas o fraudes relacionados con inmigracià ³n o con aduanas pueden reportarse anà ³nimamente al ICE marcando al 1-866-347-2423, incluidos los casos de matrimonios de conveniencia, es decir, los que se celebran para que uno de los cà ³nyuges obtengan los papeles. Dà ³nde solicitar ayuda o asesorà ­a migratoria No cabe duda de que Estados Unidos es un paà ­s que brinda buenas oportunidades. Pero no es menos cierto que se puede sufrir mucha soledad. Para los casos extremos donde se llega a tener pensamientos suicidas, por favor marcar gratuitamente al  1-888-628-9454, donde se habla en espaà ±ol. Otro de los grandes problemas que afectan a los migrantes es la necesidad de obtener buena informacià ³n sobre leyes migratorias y a un costo no elevado. La base de datos de AILA lista por localidad los abogados de su asociacià ³n especializados en migracià ³n. Adems, la Hispanic Federation puede ayudar con algunos trmites como por ejemplo peticiones de familia, DACA, permisos de trabajo, etc y tambià ©n puede brindar referencias a organizaciones con buena reputacià ³n. Marcar al 1-  866-432-9832. Finalmente, en el caso de mexicanos, siempre se puede marcar al telà ©fono de CIAM que es el y que brinda excelentes servicios gratuitamente. En el caso de los hondureà ±os en EE.UU. existen varios telà ©fonos a los que pueden marcar.
